Cookies and browser storage

Last updated: 22 October 2026

The Quinine Cybersecurity website uses no cookies at all. The Q9 Continuous platform at /app uses two strictly necessary cookies, and only once you choose to sign in. A few display preferences are saved in your own browser, and only when you change them. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking technologies. The Quinine AI Assistant on our pages sets no cookies and never saves your conversation: it is kept only in the page's memory and is gone when you leave or reload the page. The assistant keeps one session-only note, qchat-intro-seen, so its short introduction is shown at most once per visit.

What cookies and browser storage are

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browser storage (localStorage) is similar, but it stays in your browser and is never sent to us automatically. The law treats both the same way, so this page covers both. Everything listed here is set by this website itself (first party), and none of it is used to identify or track you.

Strictly necessary cookies

These are set only when you sign in to Q9 Continuous. Visitors to the public website never receive them. They are marked HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax, are sent only to this website, and cannot be read by scripts on the page.

Strictly necessary cookies (Q9 Continuous sign-in only)
NamePurposeWhen it is setDurationParty
__Host-qd_sessionKeeps you signed in. It holds a signed token with your email address, name and role, so the platform can show you only your own organisation's information. After you sign in successfully with Google.8 hours. Removed earlier when you sign out or if your access is withdrawn.First party
__Host-qd_oauthProtects the Google sign-in step against forgery and replay. It links your browser to the sign-in you started. When you select Sign in.10 minutes. Removed as soon as sign-in completes.First party

Preferences saved in your browser

These remember display choices on your own device. Nothing is saved until you make the choice, they contain no personal information, and they are never sent to us.

Preferences (browser storage)
NamePurposeWhen it is setDurationParty
qc-site-themeRemembers whether you chose the light or dark theme on the website. When you use the theme button in the header.Until you clear it.First party
qd-themeRemembers the theme you chose in Q9 Continuous (light, dark or system). When you change the theme in Q9 Continuous.Until you clear it.First party
qd-sidebarRemembers whether you collapsed the Q9 Continuous sidebar. When you collapse or expand the sidebar.Until you clear it.First party

If you press Save on the theme setting inside Q9 Continuous, that choice is also kept with your account so it follows you between devices. You can change it there at any time.

Session-only storage

This is kept in your browser's session storage, which your browser deletes when you close the tab or window. It contains no personal information and no message text, and it is never sent to us.

Session-only storage (browser storage)
NamePurposeWhen it is setDurationParty
qchat-intro-seenRemembers that the AI assistant's short introduction has already been shown, so it does not appear again on every page. It holds only the value 1.When the introduction appears, when you dismiss it, or when you open the assistant.Until you close the browser tab or window.First party

Analytics and marketing

None. We do not use analytics, advertising, social media or other tracking cookies, pixels or scripts, and we do not track you across other websites. Our pages load no content from other websites: fonts, images and scripts are all served by this website.

Other websites

When you sign in to Q9 Continuous, your browser visits Google's sign-in page, where Google may set its own cookies under Google's own terms. The same applies if you follow a link from our pages to another site, such as LinkedIn. Those cookies are set by the other site, not by us. Nothing from these sites loads on our pages before you choose to visit them.

Why there is no cookie banner

UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) requires consent before a website stores or reads information on your device, except where that is strictly necessary for a service you have asked for. Our sign-in cookies are needed to provide the Q9 Continuous service you sign in to, and the preferences above are saved only when you ask for them. Because we use nothing else, there is nothing to ask your consent for, so we do not show a banner. If that ever changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.

Cookie settings

There are no optional cookies to switch on or off. You can remove the preferences this website has saved in this browser at any time: the button below clears qc-site-theme, qd-theme, qd-sidebar and the session-only qchat-intro-seen, and the site returns to its default light theme.

To remove the sign-in cookies, sign out of Q9 Continuous; they also expire on their own. You can also delete cookies and site data for this website in your browser's settings.

Q9 Continuous is a continuous AI penetration testing platform from Quinine Cybersecurity Ltd, supported by human-reviewed security testing. Testing runs only within a scope authorised in writing, and every finding is reviewed by a person before it is reported. Automated checks do not replace independent penetration testing. Neither a report, a proof nor the platform is a certification or a guarantee of security.
